Highlighted below is some background for your consideration.

- Use of Legion and Sons of the American Legion family discounts
- Access to all social events at the post 10 along with your guests
- Access to all American Legion posts around the country
- Joining along side of other males who support the goals and objectives of The American Legion.
Our mission is to strengthen the 4 Pillars of the American Legion. These are: Caring for veterans and their families, preserving American tradition and values, improving the quality of life of our nation’s children and teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship.
Towards these goals, we often hold social events that raise money and foster camaraderie with legionnaires. This year we have held 2 Pig Pickings, 2 Oyster roasts, Chili Cook off, St. Patrick’s Day, Spaghetti Night with the Legionnaires, Halloween party and the Post 10 Legionnaire sponsorship of Military Appreciation Night at Legion Stadium along with the Wilmington Hammerheads. Each of these events raises funds to support our 4 Pillars and we have a grand time in the process.
During 2014 we have taken steps to reinvigorate our squadron. Membership has increased from 56 in 2013 to 92 in 2014. Our main programs have supported charities and non profits such as our Post 10, The Fisher House at Camp Lejeune, the Alex Newsome Foundation and the Carousal Center.
Membership is $35 a year. Your squadron uses these funds for underwriting events such as those mentioned above. Also your dollars help offset costs associated with the running of the American Legion Post 10 and the many programs that benefit veterans and their families, and other local organizations, where students learn about Americanism and the values that helped build this nation. Without our support many charities would have to pay more to host their meetings, such as the Boy Scouts that use the Post for meetings.
There are a host of reasons to join. I renewed to help veterans in ways I thought only available through active membership in the Sons. Also to have a place to meet friends that share in the desire to help veterans.
The eligibility requirements are as follows: Sons of The American Legion members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership
If you have any questions as to your eligibility please contact Eris Antanasoff at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the American Legion website and visit the Sons program link. At this site you will find a robust amount of information on the SONs. I think you will be proud to become a member of this organization.
Membership application forms are available through Eric ( email@example.com) or from the Canteen. Call 910 799-3806 and we will send you a membership form.
Please make your check in the amount of $35 payable to: Sons of The American Legion and drop off at the Canteen or send to SAL Squadron 10, Attention: Membership, PO Box 3094, Wilmington, NC 28406-0094. We also accept cash.
